from the International Society for Animal Hygiene (ISAH) dedicated to

Professor Dr. Ir. Martin Tielen (1942–2026).

With deep sadness and great respect, we announce the passing of our honorary member, Professor Dr. Ir. Martin Tielen, one of the most outstanding and influential personalities in our society for many decades. Martin Tielen was an internationally renowned scientist, inspiring academic, and highly recognized member of the international animal hygiene and veterinary community. His passing marks the loss of an exceptional personality whose scientific achievements, international leadership, and commitment to young researchers have left a lasting legacy. For many of us, his passing means the loss of a mentor, a visionary leader, a dedicated supporter of the next generation and a dear friend.

ISAH 2026

The 22nd Congress of the International Society for Animal Hygiene (ISAH 2026) will take place in Leuven, Belgium, from 25 to 28 October 2026, hosted by KU Leuven.

The main theme of the conference is
“Livestock and Wildlife: Partners in Animal Health and Welfare”,
addressing animal health, welfare, hygiene and biosecurity at the interface of livestock systems, wildlife and One Health.

The conference venue has been secured at the Thermotechnisch Instituut, KU Leuven, a unique heritage site providing an inspiring setting for plenary sessions, poster presentations, networking activities, and social events.

Call for abstracts and registration is now open

• Abstract submission is open via the online submission system
• Conference registration and payment are now available online
• Early-bird registration is available until 15 July 2026 Extended!
• Regular registration continues until 28 October 2026

Key dates include:

• Abstract submission deadline: 15 July 2026 Extended!
• Author notification: 21 July 2026 Extended!
• Full paper submission: 25 September 2026

Programme and venue

The scientific programme structure and timing are largely defined and include:

• Oral and poster sessions
